How were families organized in ancient greek civilization?

Most Greeks, like most other people throughout history, lived in families with a mother and a father and their children. Usually men got married when they were about twenty-five or thirty years old (as they do today), but women got married much younger, between twelve and sixteen years old. Probably girls from rich families got married younger, and girls from poor families got married a little older, because the girls were so young, they did not have much choice about who they were going to marry. Their fathers, uncles or brothers make the choise for them. Often girls had not even met the man they married before the wedding.

Do we have the same concept about family as ancient civilizations did?

I think that the concept of family we have nowadays is quiet similar to the one ancient greek civilization had because their believes and conception are the begginings of the western modern civilization culture, so in other words like I said both cultures the anciet greek one and the modern western society are very similar and they concepts in this case about family are the same basically, without saying that some concepts have change and will continue changing while time goes on.

COSTUMES OF GREECE

The costumes of Greece are a rich part of a multi-layered cultural history. This is just a brief overview of the subject and will include only a few representative examples of some of the costumes that were worn traditionally by the Greek people. Some characteristics of Greek folk costumes can be traced back to elements in ancient and Byzantine costume; in fact, many of the elements of liturgical clothing worn today by Greek Orthodox priests also a bear relation to modern Greek folk costume, and have their origin in the clothing of the Byzantine Empire.

GREEK DANCE

is a very old tradition, being referred to by ancient authors such as Plato, Aristotle, Plutarch and Lucian.[1] There are many different styles and interpratations from all of the islands and surrounding mainland areas. Each region formed its own choreography and style to fit in with their own ways. For example, island dances have more of a "watery" flow to them, while Pontic dancing closer to Black Sea, is very sharp. There are over 4,000 traditional dances that come from all regions of Greece. There are also Pan Hellenic dances, which have been adopted throughout the Greek world. These include the tsamiko, syrtos, and kalamatianos. Traditional Greek dancing has a primarily social (rather than sexual) function. It brings the community together at key points of the year, such as Easter, the grape harvest or patronal festivals; and at key points in the lives of individuals and families, such as weddings. For this reason, tradition frequently dictates a strict order in the arrangement of the dancers, for example, by age.

EDUCATION IN GREECE

compulsory for all children 6-15 years old; namely, it includes Primary (Dimotiko) and Lower Secondary (Gymnasio) Education. The school life of the students, however, can start from the age of 2.5 years (pre-school education) in institutions (private and public) called "Vrefonipiakoi Paidikoi Stathmi" (creches). In some Vrefonipiakoi Stathmoi there are also Nipiaka Tmimata (nursery classes) which operate along with the Nipiagogeia (kindergartens).
